Nutflats

November 29th, 2016

At the moment, we are working on the first experiment in which we use nutshell grains as a mud simulant. Nutshell grains are lightweight and become a little bit cohesive after some time in the flume. The effects of using real mud would be too strong in such small-scale experiments.

Meanwhile, the first nutflats have formed. The movie below shows the water flow and sediment transport around and over a shoal in the flume, which is covered with mudflats.
