Department day - NIOZ

About half the Physical Geography department of Utrecht University joined the department day at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). During this day, we had the opportunity to get a tour through the lab facilities of NIOZ Zeeland, and we went on a tour visiting salt marshes around the Eastern and Western Scheldt. This department day was surprisingly closely related to my own research and, therefore, extra interesting. It was good to see another place in the Netherlands that does similar research to us outside the university. We collaborate often with NIOZ and meet them at conferences, but strangely enough, I had never been there. Besides that, it was a good learning experience, it was, of course, also great fun and a good bonding experience between colleagues I normally do not directly work with.
