ESA: take up duty

May 4th, 2021

Today was my first day at ESA! I was incredibly excited to finally be there, meeting new people and no longer working from behind my computer at home. I’ve dreamed of working at ESA for a long time, and now it’s actually happening. It’s even more amazing that such a remarkable organization is right here in the Netherlands! ESTEC, the largest ESA establishment, is located just around the corner in Noordwijk.

Today, I met the people I’ll be working with most closely, as well as a few other research fellows. I also spent a good part of the day handling the usual first-day admin and IT setup. For now, we’re allowed to go into the office about once a week. We’re not supposed to come in at the same time as our office mates, but the office is quite large and feels pretty safe. It would be so nice not to work alone all the time, though! I’ve already heard that many research fellows try to coordinate and come in on the same day. I’m really looking forward to learning more about ESA and getting to know my colleagues better.
